Theresa Kappes

Theresa Kappes, 86, of Moorhead, MN, died Sunday, July 17, 2016, in Eventide on Eighth, Moorhead, MN.

Theresa Ambuehl was born March 30, 1930, the daughter of Anton and Magdalena (Wolle) Ambuehl, in Ada, MN. She was raised in Ada and graduated from Ada High School. After high school she worked at the Ada Co-Op and Ada Creamery.

On March 20, 1950, Theresa was united in marriage to Edward Kappes in Ada. After their marriage they made their home in Moorhead. Over the years, Theresa worked as a housekeeper at Fargo Clinic, sewed seat covers for snowmobiles at Silverline, was a dental assistant for Dr. Ronald Kolb and Dr. Steven Hoium, and was an attendant at the Toll Bridge for many years. It wasn't until her daughter was in high school that Theresa learned to drive. Mr. Kappes died in 2002 and Theresa has continued to make her home in Moorhead.

She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Moorhead.

Theresa enjoyed going to her grandchildren's sporting events, music and theater events, and going to the casino with Edward. She also liked to spend time fishing, playing cards (pinochle and rummy), Yahtzee, putting puzzles together, crocheting many pot holders and afghans, reading, and in recent years, word-find puzzles. She and Edward enjoyed camping with the family for many years. They started out in a tent and throughout the years upgraded, until the final years when they enjoyed a single wide trailer.

She is survived by her children, Gale Kappes, Gary Kappes and Glen (Kim) Kappes, all Moorhead, Barbara Lee, Fargo, ND, and Gerard Kappes, Apple Valley, MN; grandchildren, Thomas Lee, Benjamin Lee, and Christopher (Frank Abrahamian) Lee, Zachary (Stephanie) Kappes, and Courtney (Casey Kaufhold) Kappes; great-grandchildren, Camden, Julia, Alena and Esther Lee, Ellie and Owen Kappes; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Gregory; son-in-law, Robert Lee; granddaughter-in-law, Denise Lee; and brothers, Clayton, Armond, Gerald, Dennis, Eldred, Burtis and Allyn.

A visitation for Theresa will be Wednesday from 5 PM to 7:00 PM, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM, in St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Moorhead.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, July 21, 2016, at 11 AM, in St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Moorhead.

Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead.
