Theresa M. Cahoy

Theresa M. Cahoy, 87, died Saturday, February 16, 2019, in Ecumen Evergreens in Moorhead, MN.

Theresa Mary Bott was born on October 3, 1931, to John and Mary (Fiegen) Bott, in Colman, SD. She graduated from Colman High School, received her teacher's certificate, and taught school in the Colman area, where she met Alvin Cahoy. They were married on October 17, 1951, and lived in South Dakota until 1960, when they moved to the Fargo/Moorhead area.

Theresa especially enjoyed working with young children. In the early 80s she started a licensed daycare in her home and continued it for over 15 years, until her retirement. The "daycare kids" had a special place in her heart and she kept up with many of them over the years. Theresa was a longtime, "volunteer-extraordinaire" at St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was active in religious education for over 40 years and served in numerous capacities at the church.

A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Theresa was well known for her cooking, especially her delicious caramel rolls, Christmas cookies, and candies. She and Al were great companions and enjoyed working on projects together and traveling in their motor home and abroad. Theresa was an avid Duke, Spuds, Vikings, and Twins fan.

Theresa is survived by her four children, William (Jennifer), Cold Spring, MN, Greg (Kari) Fargo, ND, Lisa (Dennis) Ouderkirk, Fargo, and Lori (Tom) Laney, New Rockford, ND; eight grandchildren, David (Nancy) Cahoy, Paul Cahoy, Anna (Ryan) McKay, Danielle (Jayme) Bochman, Kelly Cahoy, Allison Cahoy, Caleb Laney, and Ethan Laney; six great-grandchildren, Abigail and Leah Bochman, Alexandra Cahoy and Mason, Bennett, and Molly McKay; two sisters, Patricia (Donley) Dvoracek and Rosemary (Bill) Vogt; brother-in-law, Floyd Heinemann; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Alvin, in 2016; her infant son, Paul; sisters, Marie (Martin) Ginsbach, Doris (Dean) Becker, and Isabel Heinemann; and brother, Ed (Arleen) Bott.

Visitation will be held in St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Moorhead, on Friday, February 22, 2019, from 5:00-7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM and rosary to follow. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 23, 2019, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Moorhead.

The family would like to thank Ecumen Evergreens of Moorhead for their wonderful care over the past 3 ½ years, as well as Hospice of the Red River Valley. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
