Therese (Tracy) Lower, age 98, of Moorhead, MN, died Saturday, July 15, 2006, at Villa Maria in Fargo, ND.
Therese E. (Tracy) Offerdahl was born October 6, 1907, to parents Edward and Theresa Offerdahl of Borup, MN. She was the fourth of nine children. Tracy received her elementary education in rural Norman County and graduated from Ada (MN) High School in 1925. She attended Normal School in Ada, which was a branch of what is now MSUM, and received a degree in teaching. She taught all subjects for all 8 grades in a one-room school.
On June 8, 1929, Tracy married Russell Lower. They had two children, Charles and Joyce. Tracy was a loving, caring person devoted to her family and many friends. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, quilting, calligraphy and much more. She especially enjoyed her flowers and devoted much time to her garden. She enjoyed dancing and playing bridge.
Tracy was appointed chairman of the Clay County Salvage Recycle Program in the 1940s. She was elected secretary of Clay County Federation of Women's Club. In 1974, she originated the Moorhead area Senior Evening Bridge Group and was the director for 20 years. Tracy was secretary of the Bowl Mor Bowling League for 15 years. She was both secretary and president of a Homemakers Club called Profit and Pleasure. She was a member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP).
Tracy did promotional work for Fairmont Foods for a number of years. She took census and was employed at the Moorhead City Assessor's office for 17 years.
Tracy was a life-long member of Congregational United Church of Christ. She was always involved in the fund-raiser bazaar projects marking hard candies, donuts and much more.
Tracy is survived by two children, Charles (Murell) Lower of Houston, TX, and Joyce Beck of Las Vegas, NV; eight grandchildren, Sue (Hank) Heinbuck of Houston, TX, Kristi White of Lakewood, CO, Jodi (James) Cage of Santa Ana, CA, Molly (Scott) Brenan of K
