Thomas J. Gould, 87, loving husband, father, and grandfather, joined his wife, Donna, and two sons, Jay W. and John D. at our Lord's table with his Heavenly Father, Thursday, January 3, 2008, under the compassionate and loving care of his family, and the nurses and staff at the Fargo Veteran's Affairs Medical Center.

Son of Jay W. and Rose (Blomberg) Gould, he was born on November 3, 1920, in Minneapolis, MN, and graduated from Central High School. Tom worked local jobs until he joined Air Transport Command in White Horse, Yukon, Canada, as an aircraft mechanic assisting in the transfer of planes to the Russian front. He enlisted and served in the US Navy during WW II. His specialty was repairing shot-up aircraft before they were returned to the Pacific Theatre. On leave, he met Donna Mae Fuller at home in Minneapolis where they were married June 10, 1945. They celebrated over 56 years of marriage before her passing February 3, 2002.

They were blessed with five children, survived by Kathy Gould Koenig, Tom (Kathy) Gould, both Moorhead, Jan (John) Hagerman, Minnetonka, MN; and daughter-in-law, Diana, Moorhead; five grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren.
Following his honorable discharge from the US Navy, he attended watchmaking school in Kansas City, starting a family tradition in fine jewelry. He and Donna made their home in Minneapolis where he worked as a watchmaker, later joining J.B. Hudson Jewelers in the new Southdale Mall, in a management position.
In 1961, the family moved to Moorhead, MN, where Tom had accepted a position of manager at Martinson's Jewelers, until its closure in the early 1970's. Tom worked with his wife, Donna, helping her to realize her dream: 6 G's Ceramic Studio in Moorhead.
In 1976, Tom established Tom Gould Jeweler, with his son Tom, in the Moorhead Center Mall. Several years later, son John was invited into the family business. Due to health concerns, Tom retired with John purchasing the business. His son, Tom, had begun his own jewelry business several years prior to this.
He enjoyed spending time with his wife and family and their schnauzers, working in his garden, and tackling his "honey-do" list. They enjoyed vacation and travel, spending some time in New England doing genealogy research on his family roots dating to th
Tom expressed, many times, his wonderful care and compassion of the staff and nurses at the Fargo VA Medical Center. He was gratified, but not surprised, to hear of their recognition as one of the top VA Hospitals in America.
A gathering of friends will be Sunday, January 6, 2008, from 5 - 7 PM, with a Masonic Service at 6 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
A memorial service to celebrate Tom's life will be Monday, January 7, 2008, at 2 PM, in First Lutheran Church, Fargo.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the VA Volunteer Association
