Thomas Lee Vind, 59, Moorhead, MN, died Wednesday, January 26, 2005, after a six year battle with cancer, in Innovis Health, Fargo, ND.
Thomas was born December 31, 1945, to Hans and Katie (Bachman) Vind in Crookston, MN, where he attended school and graduated from high school in 1964. After high school he attended horseshoeing school in Placerville, CA. In 1965, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and completed basic training at Lackland AFB, Texas. During his years of service he attained the rank of staff sergeant and spent two years in Wapa, Thailand. In 1969 he returned home to Crookston and worked for Cenex.
On January 14, 1972, he married Delores Cirks in Crookston. They later divorced in 1991. In 1978, Tom and his family moved to East Grand Forks, MN. In 1979 he started his career with the United States Postal Service, transferred to the West Fargo (ND) Post Office in 1983 and retired in March of 2004.
Tom shared his father's love of horses and as a young man became an accomplished horseman. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved to hunt, fish, camp and golf. He also enjoyed spending time with his children, family and friends.
Tom is survived by a son, Roger (Joyce), Burlington, ND; a daughter, Teresa Vind, Hitterdal, MN; three grandchildren, Kyla Burnside, Preston Burnside, and Ethen Vind; two brothers, Charles (Merna), Fertile, MN, and Gordon (Pat), Crookston; three sisters, Charlotte (Duane) Stinar, Mary (Walter) Lessard, both Crookston, and Verna (Curt) Johnson, East Grand Forks; a sister-in-law, Mary Ellen (Richard) Loing, Reynolds, ND; and a brother-in-law, Elwood Hill, Crookston.
Tom was preceded in death by parents; one brother, Roger; and one sister, Henrietta Hill.
VISITATION: Monday, January 31, 2005 - 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
FUNERAL: Tuesday, February 1, 2005 - 10:30 AM in The Lutheran Church of Christ the King, Moorhead.
INTERMENT: Oakdale Cemetery, Crookston, MN.
