Tim McFarland was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on November 16, 2008, after a short and courageous battle with cancer. He was 43 years young.
Timothy Jay McFarland was born March 9, 1965, to Don and Bernita McFarland. He graduated Armour High School in 1983. Tim continued his education at the University of South Dakota, where he was a four-year starter and co-captain for the Coyotes football team. He was selected to the All Academic Team in 1985 and was part of the offensive line that set the 1986 school record in rushing yards. Tim developed several close friendships at USD that remain strong today. He was a stellar example of sportsmanship both on and off the field. Tim received a free agent tryout in 1987 with the Arizona Cardinals. In September of 2006 he was inducted into the Coyote Athletic Hall of Fame.
Following graduation Tim began his career with State Farm Insurance in Rapid City, SD, where he met his bride, BethAnn Irion. Tim and Beth were united in marriage on September 12, 1992, in Pierre, SD. They later moved to Bismarck, ND, where two beautiful children, Luke and Ally, were born. In 1998 they relocated to Fargo where Tim continued his career with State Farm until present day. In Fargo, Tim and Beth had a third child, Jessa.
Tim was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved the outdoors and the time he spent at his father-in-law's hunting lodge in SD. The family has many wonderful memories of boating, skiing, camping and fishing with Tim.
Tim was a committed member of Bethel Evangelical Free Church of Fargo where he humbly and obediently served his Lord. His deep and abiding faith influenced every person he met.
Tim is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, BethAnn; his three children, Luke, Ally and Jessa; his mother, Bernita; brothers, David (Carla), Tom (Kelli); and sister ,Dawn; in-laws, Don and Gladys Irion of Pierre; brothers-in-law, Mitch (Lisa), Jason
Tim was preceded in death by his father, Don; his grandparents, John and Josie Brower, Dan and Clara McFarland; and two uncles.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 5PM to 8PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, at
Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. A service to celebrate Tim's life will be held Thursday, November 20, 2008, at 2:00PM at Bethel Evangelical Free Church, Fargo
