Tina Thorson

February 7, 1907 — November 29, 2004

Tina Thorson, 97, Moorhead, MN, passed away Monday, November 29, 2004, at MeritCare South University Palliative Care, Fargo, ND.

Tina was born on February 7, 1907, in Strathcona, MN, to Syver and Thea Syverson. Born on the farm, she weighed only 4 ½ lbs. She grew up and attended school in rural Ulen, MN. She then worked on the farm until moving to Minneapolis, MN, where she was as a nanny.

On June 22, 1929, Tina married Bennie Thorson at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ulen and they made their home in Moorhead.
Tina's priorities in life were her family and church. She was very proud of her heritage and spoke Norwegian fluently. For five years, Tina worked full time at both Eventide Lutheran Home in Moorhead and the Fargo Clinic. She then left Eventide and worked over seventeen more years at Fargo Clinic until her retirement. After retirement she worked at Concordia College, Moorhead, for two years.

Her hobbies were quiet ones. She was very interested in sewing, crocheting, and embroidery. Tina's church was very important to her. She was a charter member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Moorhead. What brought light to Tina's beautiful blue eyes were positive stories of her grandchildren. She also enjoyed babysitting children for friends. Children were her delight.

Tina is survived by her five daughters, Arlene Josal, Fargo, LaVonne Evans, Moorhead, Ione (Ronald) Gebeke, Fargo, Judy (Leon) Sell, Moorhead and Diane Ochoa, Fargo; a son, Lydell (Karen) Thorson, Moorhead; daughter-in-law, Patricia Thorson, Topeka, KS; twenty-two grandchildren; forty great-grand-children; three great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by husband, Bennie, who passed away in 1967; two infant children and a son, Orman, who passed away in 2001; grandson, Steve Evans; great-grandson, Robbie Rasmussen; her parents; two sisters, Cora Pederson & Lillie Krogen; and six
