Toni A. Brakke, 71, of Pelican Rapids, MN and Rustad, MN,, died on Friday, April 13, 2018, in Gulf Coast Medical Center, Fort Meyers, FL.
Toni Ann Sproul was born May 30, 1946, the daughter of Harold and Doris (Grieve) Sproul, in Fargo, ND. She was raised in Buffalo, ND, and graduated from high school in Eau Claire, WI. She then moved to Fargo and worked as a secretary at various places.
On October 17, 1964, she was united in marriage to Roger Brakke and they raised three children, Todd A. Brakke, Moorhead, MN, Staci M. Brakke, of Waconia, MN, and Aaron C. (Sara) Brakke, Oxbow, ND. Toni and Roger established their home on a farm near Rustad, where they farmed for many years. Toni enjoyed the farm and loved combining, spending lots of time harvesting wheat and soybeans. She also liked working with Roger for their potato-treating business. They later built a house and moved to Lake Lizzie.
Toni was a member of Hoff Lutheran Church and their Ladies Aid.
Toni was known for her immaculate lawn and garden and no one in the family did a better job mowing the lawn, especially Roger. They also did a lot of fishing on Lake Lizzie and Lake of the Woods. Toni and Roger loved to travel and later bought a motor home wintering in Arizona and Florida. They finally bought a house in Florida to enjoy during the winter months.
Toni was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Doris; and stepfather, Glenn Ellenson.
She is survived by her husband, Roger; three children, Todd, Staci, and Aaron (Sara); grandchildren, Sophie Brakke and Reed Ludwig; brother, Harold (Jean) Sproul, Jr., of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; sisters, Susan Sproul, of Grand Rapids, MN, and Betsy (John) DeHerrera, of Port Orchard, WA; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Hoff Lutheran Church.
Friends may gather one hour prior to Toni's Memorial Service.
A Memorial Service for Toni will be Monday, April 23, 2018, at 1 PM, in Hoff Lutheran Church, Rustad, MN.
