Valorayne "Chris" Frantsvog

Valorayne Frantsvog, known to her friends as Chris, died Thursday, January 28, 2016, in Eventide on Eighth, Moorhead, MN, at the age of 81.

Valorayne Edith Christianson, daughter of Roy and Leone (Johnson) Christianson was born February 14, 1934, in Kenmare, ND. She grew up in Kenaston, ND, and Pollock, SD, where she graduated from high school.

As a young lady, Chris graduated from Bismarck Hospital School of Nursing in Bismarck, ND, in 1954. She worked as an RN in California and Colorado for a couple of years.

On December 28, 1958, Chris was united in marriage to Darold Frantsvog, in Kenmare and they lived in Grand Forks, ND. In 1960, they moved to Moorhead, where she had lived since. Darold died in May of 2000.

Chris was proficient in needlework, including hardanger, she was an avid reader, and enjoyed her cat, Willard, who was well-known in the neighborhood. She served many years as a Moorhead city election judge, and she was a big fan of Concordia College women's basketball. She also was an active longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Valorayne is survived by sons, Jonathon of Dickinson, ND, and Christoffer, of Des Moines, IA; daughter, Kirsten, of Minot, ND; granddaughter, Julia Robinson-Frantsvog, Des Moines; sisters, Marilyn (Evron) Rostad, Minot, Denea (Ron) Thompson, Minot and Kathie (Joe) Bowers, Lolo, Montana; and a brother, Gary Christianson, Walnut, CA. In addition to her husband, Darold, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Lars; her parents; stepfather, Fred Forsythe; stepmother, Edith Christianson; and three siblings, Laverne, Lyle, and Gordon.

Memorials are preferred to the Dorothy Day House or Alzheimer's Association.

Visitation for Chris is Tuesday, 5 PM until 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

Funeral is Wednesday, February 3, 2016, at 2 PM, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead.

Burial will be in Butte Cemetery, Butte, ND.
