Venda L. Aune

Venda L. Aune, 97, formerly of Moorhead, MN, died peacefully with her family at her side on Feb 10, 2018, in PioneerCare Center in Fergus Falls, MN. Venda Loraine Riedberger was born to Florian and Verdie (Wyland) Riedberger on July 28, 1920, on the family farm in Cromwell Township, rural Hawley, MN Venda, the fourth of nine children, was baptized and confirmed at Hawley Methodist Church.
She attended country school and graduated from Hawley High School in 1940. She was president of her senior class and played guard for the Hawley Nuggets girl's basketball team.

On November 7, 1942, Venda married Arnold Aune at the Methodist parsonage in Pewaukee, WI, a union that lasted 68 years. While in Pewaukee both Venda and Arnold worked at a munitions plant. Following the war they moved to Hawley and later moved to Moorhead.

The focus of Venda's life was her home and family. Venda demonstrated a commitment to her marriage and took pride in caring for her family and home. She challenged, encouraged and motivated her children to live a faith-filled life. Venda had an intuitive nature knowing the right thing to do at the right time. She had a heart for those who were less fortunate.

She will be remembered for her gardening, needlework, playing with her grandchildren, family gatherings and sitting quietly by the fire. She enjoyed reading, sewing clothing for her children, camping in Montana and raising/canning garden produce, especially her dill pickles. She and Arnold also looked forward to the Friday night Whist games with her parents. Venda had the gift of hospitality and often hosted extended family members in her home.
She found joy spending time at their cabin at Buffalo Lake. She was a faithful member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church.

Venda is lovingly survived by her four children, Jane (Ron) Bedard, Fergus Falls; Dennis (Paula) Aune, Underwood, MN, Sandy (Mark) Asleson, Moorhead, and Denise (Richard) Risbrudt, Fergus Falls, a son-in-law, Harry Kringler, Bozeman, MT; fifteen grandchildren, Todd Kringler, Brad (Erin) Kringler, Brian (Kelly) Kringler, Mathew (Ashley) Bedard, Jennifer (Jim) Bedard-Upgren, Allyson (Pete) Strycharske, Kristen Dawson, Nathan Aune, Michelle Aune, David (Sonja) Asleson, Brett (Kate) Asleson, Meghan Asleson, Lindsay (Samuel) Gietzen, Jeffrey (Kaylie) Risbrudt, and Nicholas Risbrudt; 22 great grandchildren. Henry and Holly Kringler, Michael Kringler, Ella and Eli Bedard, Rishton Upgren, Ava Yvonne and Claire Strycharske, Aiden, Emerson and Ainsley Dawson, Lainey Aune, Cole, Devin and Lillian Asleson, Aubrey
and Jude Asleson, Ivy, Lena and Samuel Gietzen Jr. and Annie and Rudy Risbrudt.

She is survived by two brothers Melvin (Peg) Riedberger, Elk River, MN; Orville (Donna) Riedberger, Calistoga, CA; and a sister Delayne (Ron) Thorson, Fargo, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews. Venda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Arnold, her daughter Yvonne Kringler; four sisters, Floretta Cobler, Veretta Westlund, Opal Burnside, Ione "Penny" Syverson and one brother Luverne Riedberger.
