Vera Y. Ishkenova

Vera Y. Ishkenova 86, Moorhead, MN, died Friday, September 6, 2024, in her home, in loving care of her daughter, Lyudmila (Luda).

Vera was born in Kazakhstan, Almaty on January 28th, 1938. After graduation from school, she went on to studying music. In 1958 she got married to our dad, Anvar Ishkenov, who was a violin and guitar teacher. Vera graduated with a piano teaching degree, while she was already married. Together they raised four children - three boys and one daughter.

Vera was the backbone of her family - a leader and the glue that held her family together. She was a great cook, a valuable mentor and a smart advisor to her children.

Vera was a visionary person who was able to see the future. Her vision for our family became the catalyst for our immigration and a family reunion in the USA. She loved life and traveling. She was a very kind and caring person and a faithful wife and a loving mother.

She was survived by her children, Ravil Ishkenov (Natalia Protsenko), Timur Ishkenov, Stanislav Ishkenov (Anna Malysheva), Lyudmila Leaf (John); her sister, Alla Solodyankina; and seven grandchildren.

Our mom, Vera, will always be in our hearts as she invested so much of her heart and soul into us. We will always remember and love her deeply!

  A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, September 16, 2024 at 1pm in Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service of Moorhead.  Visitation will be one hour prior.  Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.
