Vern "Ole" R. Kroshus, 82, longtime Moorhead, MN, resident and businessman, died Thursday, April 26, 2012, at the Sanford Health Palliative Care Unit, Fargo, ND.
Vern "Ole" Robert Kroshus was born in rural Perley, MN, on March 23, 1930, to Martin and Olga (Wiig) Kroshus. He attended school in Borup, MN, where he graduated from high school.
On April 15, 1951, Ole married Evelyn Dalen in Moorhead where they made their home. He worked for many years at Armour's Meat Packing in West Fargo, ND. He then began Ole's Nursery on Highway 10 in Moorhead.
Ole was a people oriented person. He was a hard worker and loved to be at work because it gave him the opportunity to meet new people. Ole also enjoyed gathering with his friends at the Fryn' Pan in Moorhead for a cup of coffee.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; four children, Vernon (Barb) Kroshus, Jeff Kroshus, Marna (Tom) Lien, and Merlin (Kathy) Kroshus; two brothers, Jimmy (Beverly) Kroshus and Glen Kroshus; and ten grandchildren and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents; and four siblings, Cliff, Kenneth, Doris and Wendell.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at the Sanford Health Palliative Care Unit for their loving care of Ole.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Bethania Lutheran Cemetery fund.
Visitation: Tuesday from 10 - 11 AM, Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Moorhead.
Funeral: Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at 11 AM, Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
Burial: St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead.
