Verna E. Terhark, age 95, West Fargo, ND, died peacefully Tuesday, February 21, 2012, in Sheyenne Crossings, West Fargo.
Verna Eleanor Williams, daughter of John and Anna (Persson) Williams, was born December 23, 1916, in Hibbing, MN, where she grew up and graduated from Hibbing High School. On September 4, 1944, she married Herman H. Terhark, in Hibbing.
Verna and Herman lived in Minneapolis, MN, Ashland, WI, Park Rapids, MN, and Thief River Falls, MN, prior to making their home in Fargo, ND, in 1961.
Verna and Herman owned and operated a number of cafés in the FM area, including the Broadway Café across from the Fargo Theater, and the Sunrise Café on NP Avenue. They retired in 1976, and moved to Phoenix, AZ. Verna moved back to Fargo after her husband Herman died in 1989.
Verna was active in her church, Grace Lutheran for many years. She was an avid reader, a wiz at crossword puzzles, a great card player, and would walk her dog in her south Fargo neighborhood for miles every day. She loved her family dearly, as well as all her special friends in her south Fargo neighborhood and in her church. She loved all dogs, big or small.
In 2008, Verna became a resident of Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN and in 2010 she moved to Sheyenne Crossings in West Fargo, where she had lived since. The family would like to thank the staff at Eventide Lutheran Home in Moorhead and Sheyenne Cro
