Verna J. Neubarth

Verna Joyce Walukievicz was born August 12, 1940, in Kittson County, MN, the daughter of Sylvester and Marie (Soberaski) Walukievicz. Verna was raised in Lancaster, MN, where she attended school.

Verna moved to the Fargo-Moorhead area where she worked at the Uptown Café and the West Fargo (ND) Truck Stop. In 1964, Verna married Ralph Bernard Brown, who passed away April 8, 1976.

Verna married Richard Neubarth in 1986, and they owned and operated Neubarth's Jewelry, in Moorhead, until his death in 1993. They enjoyed taking short trips together and spending time at the lake.

Verna passed away Sunday, August 25, 2013, at Essentia Health, Fargo, at seventy-three years of age. The family would like to give a special thanks to the Oncology Department for the fantastic care during her numerous visits, as well as the staff at Essentia for the attention given to Verna and her family during her last days.

Verna is survived by her son, Byron, Moorhead; daughter, Laurie (fiancé, Marty Urlaub), West Fargo; three grandchildren, Dr. Shai (Nathan) Adams and Nickolas Boe, both of Fargo, and Ashley Roquette, Grand Forks, ND; brother, Steven Walukievicz, Lancaster; and sisters, Vicky Moore, West Fargo, Wendy Eberle, Bismarck, ND, and Helen Walukievicz, Fargo; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husbands, Verna was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Joe and John; and sister, Mary Mahova.

Visitation for Verna will be Thursday, August 29, 2013, from 5 - 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. Memorial service will be Friday, August 30, 2013, at 10 AM, in Elim Lutheran Church, Fargo. Inurnment will follow in Moorhead Memorial Gardens.
