Vernes "Vern" Holty

Vernes Dewan Holty was born October 21, 1915, in rural Hettinger, ND, to Andrew and Tena Holty.
Vern worked for area farmers and ranchers in the North Grand River area in Perkins County, near Aberdeen, SD. He later moved to Fargo, ND, where he worked for a number of years.
Vern was well known as a wonderful dancer. He won a waltz and polka contest in his later years. Vern loved to play cards and socialize with his friends. They would often reminisce about the good old days as well as the tough days of the depression.
In his later years, Vern found solace in the friendship of his sister, Idella Larson, and his brother-in-law, Lester Larson. They have both since passed away. Vern enjoyed his last years as a resident of Villa Maria, Fargo.

Vern died Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at Villa Maria, at ninety-four years of age.
Vern is survived by his daughter, Janice Lappala, Virginia, MN; four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, six sisters, and twenty-four nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Vern will be Saturday, October 2, 2010, from 12 noon to 1 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
His funeral will be Saturday at 1 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel.
Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Shelly, MN.
