Vernon H. Dahlsad

Vernon H. Dahlsad, 93, Moorhead, MN, died Tuesday, February 9, 2016, at Sanford Palliative Care Unit, Fargo, ND, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
He was born on May 23, 1922, in Waukon, IA, to Claus Martin and Evangeline (Bjerke) Dahlsad. He moved to Georgetown, MN, as a young child. In 1941, Vernon graduated from Crookston (MN) High School. He was proud to serve on the Red River Valley Sugarbeet Growers Association board during the formation of the American Crystal Sugar Cooperative.
Vernon was drafted into the US Navy and entered active service May 24, 1945. August 8, 1946, he was honorably discharged. On April 12, 1952, Vernon was united in marriage to Gladys Syverson in Wyndmere, ND. Vernon's major passion was farming.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Gladys; children, Larry, Georgetown, David (Kathy), Fargo, Julie (Larry) Copeland, Plymouth, MN, Timothy (Pati), Moorhead, and Janet (John) Dallman, Grand Forks, ND; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and a brother, Herbert (Irene) Dahlsad, Moorhead.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Clifford, Orville, Emmanuel, and Violet; and a grandchild, Simon.
Visitation will begin at 10 AM, followed by a funeral at 11 AM, Friday, February 12, 2016, at Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.
