Vernon "Peanuts" Beving was born November 9, 1927, in Doran, MN, to Henry and Mildred (Bronson) Beving. He attended Tintah (MN) School, and graduated at the age of 16. As a young boy he delivered milk for the town of Tintah from Beving Dairy.
Vernon enlisted at the age of 17, in the US Navy in WWII as a Seaman First Class and was stationed out of Chicago, IL, on the USS Wolverine.
In 1948, he married his high school sweetheart, Ione Swedlund, and they had dairy cattle and farmed small grains on their farm, where they raised their six children. Vernon also worked for the Great Northern and Burlington Northern Railways for 26 years as an agent-telegrapher. He retired in 1992.
He was Town Board Clerk for Tintah Township for many years and a member of American Legion Post 610. He enjoyed playing baseball, fast pitch softball, bowling and golf. In his younger years he played independent basketball. Vernon and Ione enjoyed 17 years wintering in Arizona with many good friends.
Vernon passed away on April 7, 2010, at his home in Moorhead, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 82. He is survived by his wife, Ione Beving, Moorhead; daughters, Cathi (Larry) Chial, Moorhead, Sheila (Larry) Lubben, West Fargo, ND, Jackie (Darrel) Jensen, Sealy, TX, and Robin (Jud) Loeks, Elbow Lake, MN; sons, Scott (Cindy) Beving, Erdahl, MN, and Reed (Jennifer) Beving, Locust Road, VA; 19 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Leigh; and grandsons, Brett and Christopher Beving.
