Veronica "Vernie" Royal, 86, Dilworth, MN, died Friday, May 28, 2010, in her home, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Veronica L. Rajnowski was born December 31, 1923, in Greenbush, MN, where she grew up and received her education. As a young lady she and a sister moved to the West Coast, to live and work.
On February 8, 1945, Vernie married Horace Royal, in Vancouver, WA. They lived in Illinois and in the twin cities before moving to Dilworth in 1962, where they had lived since. Vernie worked for many years at the Starlight Motel in Dilworth. Vernie was preceded in death by her husband, Horace, who died in 1982, and a son, Robert, who died in 2008.
Vernie is survived by two sons, Ronald (Lynette) Royal, Fargo, ND, and Michael (Kristine) Royal, Dilworth; a daughter-in-law, Wendy Royal, Fargo; five grandchildren, Garrett, Jason, Jeff (Christine), and Austin Royal, and Jenni (Brian) Maloney; two great-grandchildren, Jade and Evan Maloney; three great-stepgrandchildren, T.J., Brittany, and Brandi Gaskill; one great-great-stepgrandson, Travis Jr.; two brothers and four sisters.
