Vincent Tougas

Vincent Tougas, 84, of Moorhead, MN, died Friday, October 5, 2012, at the Eventide Lutheran Home in Moorhead.

Vincent Meddy Tougas was born on February 2, 1928, in Cass County, Fargo, North Dakota, the son of Meddy and Hilma (Halliday) Tougas. He was raised in the Pelican Rapids, MN area, graduating from Pelican Rapids High School. Vince served in the Army during the Korean War. He attended North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND, in refrigeration/air conditioning.

Vincent was united in marriage to Karol K. Krug on September 3, 1955, in Pelican Rapids. Vince and Karol moved to Austin, MN, and worked there for two years. In 1958 they moved to their new home in Moorhead. He worked for Rigels for eleven years and then for MSUM for twenty years, retiring in 1990.

Vincent enjoyed fishing, woodworking (his joy was refinishing his 1946 Century boat), and helping with projects with his children and grandchildren. He loved visiting with his family and friends, often sitting in his favorite chair on the back deck.

He is survived by his daughter, Katherine (Kenneth) Klever and their children, Kimberly (Andrew) Weinzierl and Kyle Klever; sons, Garold Tougas and his son, Nicholas Tougas, and Randall Tougas and his children, Ashley (Tony) Anderson, Amber Tougas, Ryan Tougas and Brianna Tougas; great-grandchildren, Karolyn Weinzierl, Nolan Roy Tougas, Brody Anderson, Kylee Tougas and William Jandro; and sisters, Bonnie Arneson of Tuscon, AZ, and Angie Pihlman of Seattle, WA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Karol, on September 18, 2012; and brothers, Dean and Raymond.

The family would like to thank Vince and Karol's extended family at Eventide Lutheran Home for the wonderful care during their time with them. Also thank you to Hospice of the Red River Valley on their special care for dad.
