Viola Mabel Swanson, age 92, Moorhead, MN, died Friday, February 26, 2010, in Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead.
Viola M. Martell, the daughter of Arthur T. and Clara (Hanson) Martell, was born in Moorhead on February 6, 1918. She grew up and received her education in Moorhead. On August 31, 1940, she was married to Eddie Swanson. They lived in Moorhead, and had one son, Ronald.
Viola worked at B Line Taxi, O'Meara's Clothing and at the VA Hospital. She was an active volunteer in her community. She was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 1223, and also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead.
She is survived by her sister, Lucille Hennemann, Moorhead; niece, Verna Martell, Fargo; nephews, Mark Hennemann, Fargo and Darrell (Barb) Hennemann, Fargo; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie, who died in 1979; her son, Ronnie, who died in 1963; brother, Albin Martell; sister-in-law, Clara Martell; brother-in-law, Robert Hennemann; and niece, Laura Hennemann Grandbois, who was like a daughter to Viola.
