Violet R. Williams, 88, Fargo, ND, formerly of Halstad, MN, died Thursday, November 12, 2015, in Bethany on 42nd, Fargo.
Violet Rose Stundahl, the daughter of Louis and Hulda (Milsten) Stundahl, was born June 3, 1927, in Fosston, MN. She grew up and attended school in Ulen, MN. After graduating from high school she attended Fargo Business College.
On November 2, 1947, Violet married John W. Williams. They farmed near Dwight, ND, Wheatland, ND, and later in rural Halstad, where they lived and farmed for 40 years.
She and John may be remembered during the 1980s as Halstad's Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus. They were also charter members of the Halstad Valley Squares and Ada (MN) Valley Squares, square dancing clubs.
She sat on the Board of Directors for the Twin Valley (MN) Living Center and was part of the group that was instrumental in building the Halstad Lutheran Memorial Home, where she worked as the activities director for over twenty years. Violet was known for her gracious and humorous spirit as well as her positive attitude. When she heard music it went straight to her feet. Toward the end of her life, she was often seen wearing a flower in her hair and a smile on her face.
She is survived by her daughter, Diana "Dee" Weaver, Fargo; four sons, Larry (Deb) and Joel, both Fargo, Roger (Mici), Bismarck, ND, and James (Kay), Grand Forks, ND; thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Violet was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents, two sisters, one son-in-law, and one grandson.
Her funeral service will be Thursday, November 19, 2015, at 10:30 AM in Bethany on 42nd, Fargo, with visitation one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will be in Moorhead Memorial Gardens.
