Virgil LaVern Roness was born November 25, 1930, in Noonan, ND, to Einar and Elvira (Glasoe) Roness. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Noonan. Zion Lutheran Church was built by his grandfather, Michael Glasoe.

Virgil grew up on a farm south of Noonan, attended local country schools, and graduated from Noonan High School in 1948. Virgil attended college in Fargo, ND, before enlisting in the US Air Force. He was stationed in Mississippi and Germany from 1951 - 1952. Following his discharge, Virgil moved to Spokane, WA.

In 1959, when his mother passed away, Virgil returned to Noonan to live with his father, and operated Virgil's Fountain Service (formerly Crum's Drug Store) for a few years. Virgil then moved to Kent, WA, to work for Boeing Aircraft and to pursue his career as an electrician.

With a partner, Virgil started their own company, Bekk's Electric. He later sold the business, retired, and returned to North Dakota with his son. They lived in Williston, Wilton, Bismarck, and Fargo, where he was living at the time of his death. The memories will always be with us, but he will be dearly missed by all who loved him.
