Virginia Borgen

Virginia Borgen, 96, of Moorhead, MN, died on Sunday, October 15, 2017, in Sanford Palliative Care, Fargo, ND.

Virginia was born October 2, 1921, in Moorhead, the daughter of Andrew and Nora (Buhaug) Holm. She was baptized October 29, 1921, and confirmed May 26, 1935, both in Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead. Virginia attended school in Moorhead graduating on June, 2, 1939, and then Interstate Business College. After graduation she worked for W.L. Cox Insurance and Fevig & Jesten Insurance until 1946, when she was united in marriage to John Borgen in Sisseton, SD.

They made their home and farmed near Borup, MN, until 1957, when they moved to Moorhead. Virginia then helped run the family trucking business, Borgen Dray and Parcel and in 1960, Acme Fast Freight. In 1974, Virginia and John were divorced and she went to work for the Clay County Veterans Administration Office as an administrative assistant until she retired in December of 1991.

She was a longtime member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. She also served several years on the board of the Comstock House in Moorhead.

Virginia enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, dogs and summering at her lake place on Big Cormorant Lake. It was her "Shangri-la." She also enjoyed planning many class reunions for her graduating class of 1939.

She is survived by her children, Janice Ruther, Dilworth, MN, Ellie (Roger) Johnson, Vergas, MN, Jack (Kelly) Borgen, Audubon, MN, and Cindy (Keith) Antonson-Lillevold, Moorhead; daughter-in-law, Jan Peterson, St. Joseph, MN; grandchildren, David Borgen, Janet Duscher, Gretchen Charlton, Eric Ruther, Ron Johnson, Renee Gast, Rhona Rowland, Jodi Wilson, Matthew Borgen, Jessica Ailie, Ginna Nustad, Allen Antonson, Mark Lillevold; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, David; granddaughter, Kari Borgen; sister, Gladys Rostad; and son-in-law, James Antonson.

A Visitation for Virginia will be Friday from 5 PM to 7 PM, with a 7:00 PM, Prayer Service in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

Her Funeral Service will be Saturday, October 21, 2017, at 10:30 AM, in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Moorhead.

Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.
