Virginia "Ginny" Olson

Virginia “Ginny” Darlene Olson, 77, of Dilworth, MN, died Saturday, September 7, 2024, in her home.

Ginny was born February 11, 1947, to Arnt and Margaret (Blotsky) Swenson in Moorhead, MN, where she grew up and graduated high school in 1965. Ginny gave birth to her first daughter, Carla (Motschenbacher) Bergee on January 28, 1965, and her second daughter, Karen Motschenbacher was born September 8, 1967. On June 6, 1981, Ginny married Ronald Olson at Methodist church in Moorhead, MN and they welcomed their son, Kevin, on December 7, 1982.

Ginny ran an in-home day care for many years that she thoroughly enjoyed. Not long after Ronald retired from teaching at Dilworth elementary, she transitioned into a difficult caretaker role until he passed away from Parkinson’s disease, with Lewy body dementia, in 2013.

Ginny loved traveling, spending time outside with her flowers, decorating for holidays, arts and crafts, coffee time with family and friends, feeding the neighborhood squirrels and reading. The greatest joy in Ginny’s life was spending time with her grandchildren and watching them grow.

She is survived by children, Kevin Olson and Karen Motschenbacher; grandchildren, Dusty Bergee, Dillon Manns, Hanley and Hudson Olson; and brother Donnie (Dianne) Swenson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnt and Margaret Swenson; husband, Ronald Olson; and daughter, Carla (Motschenbacher) Bergee.

Visitation for Ginny will begin at 9 AM, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM, Saturday, September 14, 2024, in St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Dilworth.
