Virginia Elizabeth Goode, the daughter of Willey and Cora Mae (Clay) Goode, was born January 27, 1933, in Pineville, West Virginia. She moved to Moorhead, Minnesota, in 1959. She was married to Ray Janousek on February 17, 1961.
Virginia started painting in 1967. Besides being an artist, she was a mother, housewife, and a printer in Associated Arts Print Shop which she owned with her husband, Ray, who was a commercial artist.
She enjoyed working with oil, usually applied with a palette knife, on her landscapes and still life. Virginia was able to give of herself, as reflected in her painting-her love of land and flowers. She studied with many well-known artists and teachers. She did many one-artist shows as well as group shows including the Rourke Gallery, the University of Minnesota, St. Paul, the University of Minnesota, Morris, the American Swedish Institute, and The Minnesota State Fair. She won many awards. Her permanent collections are in the North Dakota Electrical Contractors Association, 3-M Company, and many more private collections throughout the country.
Virginia died Wednesday, September 2, 2015, in Villa Maria, Fargo, North Dakota, at the age of 82.
She is survived by her husband, Ray; sons, John (Kary) Janousek, Robert Janousek, and Edward Farley; stepson, Steven Janousek; stepdaughter, Linda Jerzeski; grandson, Ed Farley, Jr., and a brother, Roy Clay.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Layton, Paul, Pauline, and Lessie.
