Vivian C. Hartman

Vivian Caroline Walther was born October 1, 1935, in Callaway, MN, to Wilhelm and Myrtle (Warling) Walther. She attended country school at Callaway and graduated from high school in Detroit Lakes, MN, in 1953. She received a business degree from Interstate Business College, Fargo, ND, the following year.

Vivian worked for General Mills as well as Silverline Boats, Moorhead, MN, before working at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Dakota, Medicare division. She also worked in the business office of Classic Roadsters and later at Hornbachers, Moorhead, in the deli department.

Vivian married Rudolph "Rudy" Hartman on April 23, 1955, in Callaway. Rudy died January 12, 1992. She continued to make her home in Moorhead and later moved into Eventide on Eighth, Moorhead.

Vivian enjoyed sewing, quilting, and solving puzzles of many kinds.

Vivian died Saturday, September 29, 2018, in Sanford Health Palliative Care Unit, Fargo, at eighty-two years of age.

She is survived by her daughter, Vonnie (Allan) Walz, San Antonio, TX; sons, Randy (Cheryl), Phoenix, AZ, Ronnie (Laura), Burke, VA, and Rickie (Julia), Moorhead; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and one great-grandson due in December; sister, Wiletta Messerschmidt, Georgia; and a brother, Wilhelm (Gretchen) Walther, Callaway.

In addition to her husband and parents, Vivian was preceded in death by a sister, Alice; and a brother, Wayne.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 AM, with a Memorial Service at 11 AM, Wednesday, October 3, 2018, in Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Moorhead.

Burial will take place in Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes.
