Vivian F. Matson

December 19, 1929 — November 18, 2019

A bright, shining soul recently left the earth, Vivian Florence Thompson Matson, age 89, was set free from all ills on November 18, 2019. Vivian the daughter of Thomas and Tillie (Martin) Thompson, was born December 19, 1929, in Fargo, ND.

She was a caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, caretaker for those in need, and a close friend to multitudes. She lived life to the fullest but still found the time to be a good mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, serve her community working at and retiring from the Moorhead Public Service customer service after 30 years. Vivian also served with the VFW Auxiliary, actively participated at her church, The Lutheran Church of Christ The King in Moorhead, cared for her gardens, taking special pride in her roses, created award winning porcelain dolls, and master any handy crafts she attempted.

Vivian leaves behind her loving family. She was a much loved mother to Bruce (Marcy) Matson, Linda Matson Hamm, Diana (Mark) Jacobson, Brenda (Steven) Aaser, Dale Matson, and Lee (Ruth) Matson. Cherished sister to James (Shirley) Thompson. She will be dearly missed also by seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harlan E. Matson; parents, Thomas and Tillie; her brother, Earl Thompson; and sisters, Pearl Kiesler and Rose Christianson.

Every now and then God sends someone to earth to brighten our lives with a contagious smile, beautiful big brown caring eyes, and a kind heart.
