Wallace Erickson

Wallace Erickson, age 88, of Fargo, ND, died on Friday, March 7, 2014, in Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo.
N. Wallace Erickson, son of Knute and Hennie (Hawkinson) Erickson, was born in Moorhead, MN, on November 2, 1925. He grew up and received his early education in rural North Moorhead, graduating from Moorhead High School in 1943. He furthered his education at Dakota Business College, LaSalle Extension University, and Moorhead State University.
On August 26, 1950, Wally married Jewell Bjorndahl, in Hegland Lutheran Church, rural Hawley, MN. They lived in the Fargo-Moorhead community and later lived near Harwood, ND. In 1980, they returned to Fargo.
Wally was employed with Northwestern Equipment in Fargo for 31 years. He volunteered often and was truly a servant leader. He served in many capacities in the church he loved, Triumph Lutheran Brethren; served on Bible camp boards and on school boards.
His wife, Jewell, died on November 5, 2001. He was always grateful for the care he received while he was a resident of Pioneer House and later at Rosewood on Broadway, both Fargo.
Wally enjoyed a close friendship with Annie Kragero for the past 12 years. He liked playing the piano, accordion, mandolin and harmonica, and truly enjoyed entertaining so many people. He made friends wherever he went, and will be missed by many.
Wally is survived by his longtime special friend, Annie Kragero, Moorhead; daughters, Linda (Jim) Olson, Fargo, and Kristine (Dave) Toay, Spencer, IA; sons, David (Joanne) Erickson, Eagan, MN, Gerry (Michelle) Erickson, West Fargo, ND, and Jeff (Pam) Erickson, West Fargo; brother, Duane (Joan) Erickson, Moorhead; sister, Mae (Robert) Gee, Moorhead; brother-in-law, Kermit Rodke, Hawley; 15 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Jewell, he was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation for Wally Erickson will be Sunday, 4 PM until 6 PM, with a prayer service at 6 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
His funeral will be Monday, March 10, 2014, at 2:30 PM in Triumph Lutheran Brethren Church in Moorhead.
