Wallace "Wally" Lindsay, 89, Fargo, ND, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2014, in Bethany on 42nd, Fargo.

Wally was born October 29, 1924, in Casselton, ND, and at age six, became the son of J.T. and Ida Johnson. He graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1943.

Wally entered the US Army following graduation and served until 1946. He was part of the European Theater of Operations, 746th Tank Battalion, 9th Infantry Division, as a tank driver.

On August 7, 1953, Wally married the love of his life, Carol Ysteboe, in Fargo. Together, they had two children, Doreen (Arron) Smith of Dilworth, MN, and Keith Lindsay of Fargo.

Wally worked for Horvik Electric Motor Company for forty-one years. After he retired, he worked for the Fargo Parks District, Senior grocery bus, and also at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church, Fargo, as a custodian. Wally was a lifetime member of Pontoppidan.

Wally is survived by his two children; five grandchildren; three and a half great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol, on January 4, 2014; parents; a brother, Harold; and a sister, Margaret.

Visitation for Wally will be Wednesday, October 29, 2014, from 5 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

His funeral will be Thursday, October 30, 2014, at 11 AM, in Pontoppidan Lutheran Church, Fargo.

Burial will take place in Landstad Lutheran Cemetery, Perley, MN.
