Walter C. Diedrich, 84, Fargo, ND, died Saturday, May 30, 2009, in St. Joseph's Medical Center, Brainerd, MN.
Walter Carl Diedrich was born to Carl and Anna (Dittberner) Diedrich in Parkers Prairie, MN, where he was raised. As a young man, Walter moved to Fargo and married Cora M. Soma on October 18, 1950. Together they raised three daughters.
Walter enlisted in the Army and he served at Camp Atterbury in Indiana. Upon his discharge from the military, Walter and Cora returned to Fargo where he worked for various businesses including Nash Finch, from which he retired. Walter then devoted his time to his passion of woodworking.
Cora died May 19, 2007 and Walter continued to make his home in Fargo.
He is survived by his three daughters, Terry Diedrich, Valparaiso, IN, Nicki Jacobs, Crosby, MN, and Lisa (Cory) Ylitalo, Wolf Lake, MN; two grandchildren, Ryan (Shannon) Jacobs and Stephanie Jacobs; and four sisters, Cora Eastland, Alvina Hoiland, Violet Miller, and Viola Bonik.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church, the American Cancer Society, or the American Heart and Stroke Society, in memory of Walter.
Visitation: One hour prior to the funeral service.
Funeral Service: Thursday, June 4, 2009 at 11 AM in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Fargo.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
