Walter L. Seifert Jr., Moorhead, MN, died Wednesday, July 28, 2004, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND, at the age of 80.
Walter Lyle Seifert Jr., son of Walter and Alpha (Johnson) Seifert was born September 10, 1923, in Pelican Rapids, MN, where he grew up and graduated from high school. He attended North Dakota State University, Fargo, and later the Gale Institute, Minneapolis, MN, where he learned telegraphy.
Walter was united in marriage to Lois Anderson on August 18, 1951, in Eagle Bend, MN. The couple made their home in Moorhead. Walter worked for the Northern Pacific Railway from 1952 to 1984, after which he worked several years as a stockbroker for Fridlund Securities, Moorhead. He also worked as a self-employed house painter.
Walter was a longtime member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Moorhead. He enjoyed the business market, and was an avid reader of business and financial publications. He loved gardening, fishing at his cabin on Lake Lizzie, and especially spending time with his family and friends. He and Lois spent the last several winters in Apache Junction, AZ.
Walter is survived by his wife, Lois, Moorhead; three sons and two daughters, Mark (Linda), Noblesville, IN, John (Connie), Stillwater, MN, Junell (John) Wertish, Brooklyn Park, MN, Teryl (Mark) Clausen, Moorhead, and Paul (Iris), Oregon House, CA.; one sister, Eileen Ormsby, Pelican Rapids, MN, and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
