Warren Bettenhausen

Warren J. Bettenhausen Sr., 90, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at his home in Fargo, ND.
Warren was born September 26, 1925, in Wishek, ND. He grew up on the family farm near Wishek with his 16 siblings. He served in the 101st Airborne Division in Europe during World War II, fighting in the Battle of the Bulge. He entered the service in March 1944, and was discharged in April 1946. After the war he attended Hanson Mechanical Trade School, Fargo, in preparation for a career as an auto mechanic.
Warren married Irene E. Kaseman on December 1, 1946. Warren and Irene moved to Jamestown, ND, in March of 1948, where he worked for Mickelson Motor Company until 1958. He then went into business for himself, operating a service station which provided all types of auto repair services, from minor fixes to major overhauls. Irene passed away on December 9, 1980, after battling cancer.
On April 17, 1982, Warren married Ann C. Sahr in Jamestown, ND. After retiring from his auto repair business in 1988, Warren and Ann spent winters in Arizona where he volunteered his brilliant skills as a mechanic. There was no repair job too challenging for him to tackle. They also enjoyed traveling abroad. Warren was always willing to help others with building and maintenance jobs. In 2005, they moved to Fargo and remained active with their church and volunteering with ARC.
Warren never missed an opportunity to go golfing. He had a deep and abiding faith in Jesus Christ, which he readily shared with others. Warren said the last 30 years of his life in retirement with Ann were wonderful, 'a mountain top experience' in his words.
Warren is survived by his wife, Ann; five sons, Jerry, Ron, Bruce, Warren Jr, and Bob; stepchildren, Jim, Kathy, Russ, Tom, and Steve; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation is Sunday, 4 PM to 6 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, MN. His funeral is Monday, Feb. 1, 2016, at 2 PM, in Bethel Evangelical Free Church, Fargo. Burial will be in Jamestown, ND.
