Wayne M. Portinga

Wayne Melvin Portinga was born July 13, 1926, to John and Bessie (Roberts) Portinga, in Willmar, MN, where he was raised. Wayne lived in Portland, OR, for one year where he worked in the shipyards and airline industry. He returned to Willmar where he graduated from high school in 1946. Wayne attended one year of college at Anderson College, Anderson, IN.
Wayne married Belle Jeanne Nelson, October 29, 1948, in Willmar, and they lived in numerous areas during his thirty-year career with National Cash Register Company, including Dayton, OH, and Denver, CO, for training. He retired from National Cash Register while living in Aberdeen, SD.
Wayne and Belle Jeanne lived in Bismarck, ND, where he owned and operated his own sales and service company, Computers and Registers. They moved to Fargo, ND, in August of 2003. Wayne died Monday, October 15, 2007, in Innovis Health, Fargo, at eighty-one years of age.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Belle Jeanne, Fargo; one son, Daniel (Jess) Portinga, Denver, CO; two daughters, Debbie (Chris) Mineo, Denver, and Pennie (Dana) Lanz, Sioux Falls, SD; six grandchildren, Jacob, Mariah, Brandi, Jessica, Brittany, and Logan; one great-granddaughter expected in February of 2008; one brother, Rodney Portinga, Portland, OR; two sisters, Thelma Gode, Sun City, AZ, and Donna Quam, Lake City, MN; and several nieces and nephews. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert Portinga.
Visitation for Wayne will be Friday, October 19, 2007, from 5 - 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, MN.
His funeral will be at the Korsmo Chapel on Saturday, October 20, 2007, at 2 PM.
