William D. Brainerd

William Dale Brainerd was born March 28, 1931, to Arthur and Edith (Horner) Brainerd, in Hope, ND. At a young age, the family moved to Moorhead, MN, where he was raised and attended school. As a young man, Bill worked at various jobs until he began with Red Owl in their Fargo, ND, warehouse. He retired after thirty-eight years as a forklift operator.
Bill was united in marriage to Virginia June Dalen, November 30, 1950, in Moorhead, where they made their home until moving to their home in Fargo.
Bill loved to spend his free time with his wife, family and friends at their home and at their lake property on Trowbridge Lake, near Vergas, MN. He was always so proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bill enjoyed his morning visits with all of his friends. He was dearly loved and will be missed by many.
With his family by his side, Bill died Saturday, November 13, 2004, in MeritCare Palliative Care Unit, Fargo, at seventy-three years of age.
Bill is lovingly survived by his wife of almost fifty-four years, Virginia "Ma", Fargo; his five children, Jackie (Fred) Fritel, Valley City, ND, Dale (Nancy), Doug (Tami), Dan (Cindi), and Mary (Dave) Chapman, all Fargo; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four sisters, Marlene (Ernie) Dahl, Mary Ann (Willard) Held, and Carol (Bill) Krogen, all Moorhead, and Dorothy Holte, Anoka, MN; one brother, Arthur "Sonny" (Jean), Cheyenne, WY; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Julie, who was so very special to him. She was his precious little angel on earth who now welcomes him "home" forever. Bill was also preceded in death by two brothers-in-law
Visitation for Bill will be Tuesday, November 16, 2004, from 5 - 8 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. His funeral will be Wednesday, November 17, 2004, at 1 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Riversid
