William Hillestad, 71, Fargo, ND, formerly of Moorhead, MN, died Thursday, August 2, 2012, in Sanford Health, Fargo.
William Gerald Hillestad, the son of Gina (Benson) and William Hillestad Sr., was born in Fargo, on November 16, 1940. He grew up and received his education in Moorhead. After graduating from high school in Moorhead, he enlisted in the US Navy. He served from 1958, until his discharge in 1962.
Bill returned to Moorhead, where he worked in the office of Foss Lumber Company. In the mid-1980's, he moved to Fargo. He worked for Swanson Health Foods, and later at the south Fargo K-Mart store. He retired in about 2002.
Bill never married. He is survived by a niece, Stephanie (Clyde) Isaak, DeForest, Wisconsin; and a nephew, Michael (Linda) Hunt, St. John, Indiana; six great-nieces and nephews; and three great-great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by a sister, Sonya Hunt, who died in 1985.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 6, 2012, at 1 PM in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. Burial will be at Moorhead Memorial Gardens.
