Winifred "Winnie" J. Borgen

Winifred Janet Borgen passed away peacefully in her Felton, MN, home on Saturday evening, December 10, 2005, at the age of eighty-seven.
Winifred was born to Julia (Krostad) and Walter Winfred Wegner in Perley, MN, on February 24, 1918. They moved to Cavalier, ND, in 1928. In 1935, they moved to Bottineau, ND, where Winnie graduated from high school.
In 1938, she met Vernon R. Borgen and they were married on October 24, 1940. They farmed in Borup, MN, from 1940 to 1955. In 1948, V.R. and Winnie were blessed with their son, Robert Lynn Borgen.
In 1955, V.R. and Winnie moved Felton and they helped V.R.'s mother manage Felton Telephone. Winnie was a switchboard operator for about five years until the company updated to an automatic switchboard.
After the death of her husband, Winnie enjoyed traveling abroad, shopping, crafts, and sewing. Winnie was lovingly cared for 24 hours a day by her granddaughter, Michelle Kawlewski, for the past year and a half.
In addition to her husband, Winnie was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Bernice Maxine Wegner; a brother, Franklyn Jerome "Bud" Wegner; and a grandson, Scott Borgen.
She is survived by her son, Robert (Gay) Borgen; grandchildren, Bradley (Jody) Borgen, Chad (Heidi) Borgen, Marty (Amy) Kawlewski, Michelle Kawlewski, Mark Kawlewski, and Melissa (Cyril) Genoch; great-grandchildren, Blake Scott Borgen, Ashley, Jonathon, J
