General Price List

Price list is effective October 18, 2024, and is subject to change without notice

The goods and services shown below are those we can provide our customers. You may choose only those items you desire. However, any funeral arrangements you select will include a charge for our basic services. If legal or other requirements mean you must buy any items you did not specifically ask for, we will explain the reasons in writing on the statement we provide describing the funeral goods and services you selected. This list does not include prices for certain items that you may ask us to buy for you, such as cemetery and crematory services, flowers and newspaper notices. The price for those items will be shown on your bill or the statement describing the funeral goods and services you selected.

Basic Service Fee

Basic services of funeral director and staff

$3,195.00

Our basic service charge includes, but is not limited to, staff to respond to initial request for service; arrangement conference with responsible party; preparation of necessary certificates and permits; placing of obituary in local newspaper; planning for service arrangements; and coordination of service with cemetery, crematory and_ others, as required. Also included in this charge are overhead expenses relative to our facility, such as insurance, maintenance, utility and depreciation expenses, administrative and secretarial expenses, and equipment and inventory expenses. This fee for basic services will be added to the total cost of the funeral arrangement you select. This fee is already included in our charges for direct cremation, immediate burial, and receiving and forwarding of remains. This charge is non-declinable.

Care of the Deceased

Embalming

Except in certain special cases, embalming is not required by law. If you do not want embalming, you usually have the right to choose an  arrangement that does not require you to pay for it, such as direct cremation or immediate burial or when refrigeration or use of dry ice is available. Embalming may be necessary, however, if you select certain arrangements, such as a funeral with viewing.

Payment Policy

Korsmo Funeral Service. under the definition of the Federal Truth in Lending Act, does NOT extend credit. This is a cash transaction, due in full, one month from the signing of the statement of funeral goods and services.

Deposit:

A deposit of 50% of the total of all charges is required at the time arrangements are made. A minimum deposit amount is $750.00.

Prepaid funeral accounts:

If all or a substantial portion of the account is to be paid by either a prepaid bank funeral trust or a funeral insurance policy issued through our mortuary, no deposit is required.

Payment by Credit Card:

A 3 % swipe charge will be added to the total charge. Maximum credit card payments for any service is $4000.00.

Package Services:

Package services, including receiving remains from another funeral home, forwarding remains to another funeral home, immediate burial, and direct cremation, all include significant discounts built into the package. No additional discounts are allowed.

Cremation Services

Direct Cremation 

$2,875.00 to $3,045.00

Charge includes removal of the remains, custodial care, transfer to the crematory and basic services of the funeral director and staff. Minnesota law does not require you to purchase a casket for cremation. If you want to arrange a cremation, you can use a cremation container. A cremation container is a combustible closed container that encases the body and can be made of materials like fiberboard or corrugated cardboard and into which a dead human body is placed prior to insertion into a cremation chamber for cremation. The containers we provide are fiberboard, plywood and/or cardboard.

This charge does NOT include any visitation, rites or ceremonies. This charge includes a payment to Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND, ($390) for the crematory fee and Cass County, ND, cremation registration fee ($10). This charge does NOT include the MN county medical examiner fee. Add $300 for preparation of un-embalmed remains for private family viewing.

In most areas for the country, state or local law does not require that you buy a container to surround the casket in the grave. However, many cemeteries require such a container so that the grave will not sink in. Either a grave liner or a burial vault will satisfy these requirements.
